Member for Callide Colin Boyce has sponsored an official E-Petition to the State Government demanding an inquiry into the North Burnett Regional Council.
The petition was lodged by Biggenden resident Edwin Chandler on Friday, and will be open until October 8.
The petition states:
Electors of the Division of Callide draw to the attention of the House the lack of confidence residents have in the management of the North Burnett Regional Council to provide essential services to the region.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to investigate the internal decision-making processes of the North Burnett Regional Council in providing services that are relevant and represent value to the community.
By 7:00pm on Tuesday, the petition had received 280 signatures.
The petition follows a protest by residents in Biggenden earlier this year over Council plans to close services in the region.
