UPDATE 4:30pm: RACQ’s phone lines are again working but a spokesperson said teams were working through a backlog of queries.

EARLIER:

Motorists seeking breakdown assistance have been advised to use RACQ’s Roadside Assistance app after a phone outage hit the motoring organisation on Thursday.

“We are currently experiencing a major outage to our phone system meaning our ability to receive calls from members is limited,” RACQ spokesperson Renee Smith said.

“The outage occurred at approximately 12:05pm.

“The safety of our members is our highest priority and we are urging anyone who needs Roadside Assistance, to please log a job using our Roadside Assistance app.

“We’re working with our phone system provider to rectify the issue as soon as possible.

“We understand other users of the system are experiencing similar issues.

“We thank members for their patience and ask those with non-urgent inquiries to delay contacting us until the issue is resolved.”
