The Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland will be coming to Kingaroy and Cherbourg next month to share some tips with local residents about how to save energy … and money.

The ombudsman will explain how to understand energy bills and running costs, what to do if you can’t pay your bill, and how to access hardship assistance, rebates and concessions.

Everyone is welcome to come along (no appointment is necessary) and refreshments will be provided.

The ombudsman will be at:

  • September 1 – Kingaroy – Kingaroy Youth park, Somerset Street, noon-4:00pm
  • September 2 – Cherbourg – Boys Dormitory, Barambah Acenue, 9:00am-1:00pm

The ombudsman’s office was established by the State Government in 2007 to provide a free and independent dispute resolution service for small electricity and reticulated gas customers in Queensland.

In 2011, the role was expanded to include complaints about water suppliers in south-east Queensland; and in 2016 its jurisdiction was expanded again to investigate privacy and credit reporting complaints.
