The recent Farmers Day Out at Murgon has been hailed as a success after the Murgon Show Society received positive feedback from participants.
Show Society volunteer Sharon Trim said more than 90 families came through the gate on the day.
The aim was to provide some free fun for the community, and to reach out to farming families in the local area.
The support services which set up stalls to share information were happy with the outreach they had achieved.
The other good news was the day did not cost the Show Society very much to put on.
“Most people volunteered their time or at very low cost just to cover expenses,” Sharon said,
Connollys State Waste, from Cushnie, donated the portable toilets, and other donations were received for the free sample bags which were handed out.
“The farmers that came also went into a prize draw and there was also a treasure hunt,” Sharon said.
“All the prizes went to local farming families.”
Sharon said the lawn mower racing had proven to be very popular, and the entertainers who came along were keen to come back.
“I think people had a really good day out,” Sharon said.
“A big thanks to Sandra and Lyndon Maroske who donated their time, machinery and prizes.”
Sharon said she would also like to thank the sponsors: the National Recovery and Resilience Agency, Tarong Power Stations and Meandu Mines; Cr Kathy Duff and Deb Frecklington MP.
