Kingaroy Airport will be upgraded with state-of-the-art lighting thanks to $266,878 in Federal Government funding announced on Thursday by Member for Maranoa David Littleproud.
The airport is one of 89 across Australia which will benefit from grants under Round 2 of the Regional Airports Program.
Mr Littleproud said the existing lights would be removed and replaced with compliant lighting to help make night landings and take-offs safer.
“Keeping our regional airstrips in top-notch condition will help locals to remain well-connected, improve the delivery of goods and services and ensure emergency services continue to have quick and easy access to our towns.”
North Burnett Regional Council will receive $1.165 million to remove the old fences and construct new animal-proof fences at Gayndah, Mundubbera, Eidsvold and Monto airports.
