Health Minister Yvette D’Ath has advised that booking timeframes for COVID-19 tests at Kingaroy Hospital have been extended.
The Minister was responding to a letter from Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington last month which detailed concerns about the availability of COVID-19 testing and vaccination options in the South Burnett.
“The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Services appreciate the feedback and use it as a way to improve their systems and processes and have therefore extended the booking timeframes for the availability of COVID-19 testing at the Kingaroy Hospital,” Mrs D’Ath said.
“If a member of the community requires a test, they are to telephone the facility and be allocated a time to attend.
“Darling Downs Health facilities will continue to test people who present to the Emergency Department and whilst they aim to test in a timely manner, emergency cases will take priority.
“Darling Downs Health facilities will continue to advise consumers of alternative local testing sites to allow them to make an individual choice of provider.
“The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Services are administering vaccines at various sites across their health service.
“Planning is underway to provide further clinics within the South Burnett in accordance with Queensland Government guidelines.”
