Police are reminding motorists they regularly patrol roadworks sites after a woman was found travelling at almost double the speed limit on the D’Aguilar Highway.
Kingaroy Road Policing Unit officers were conducting static speed detection duties at the roadworks south of Kingaroy on Tuesday morning.
About 6:30am police detected a vehicle travelling towards Kingaroy at 112km/h in the clearly marked 60km/h zone.
Senior Constable Jade Miller said a 46-year-old Nanango woman was issued with $1245 fine and eight demerit points, and will lose her licence for six months.
The woman allegedly told police she was running late for work.
Snr Const Miller said 10 other infringement notices were also issued at the site for speeding offences.
“Motorists are reminded that roadwork zones are regularly enforced and are clearly marked with the relevant speed limit at multiple locations,” Snr Const Miller said.
“Recent enforcement is as a result of reports from the public of poor driving behaviour in these roadworks including speeding, tailgating, overtaking and a number of road rage incidents.”
