Detectives from Murgon CIB arrested and charged a 57-year-old Tingoora woman on Tuesday in relation to the alleged unlawful stalking of a current serving councillor of the South Burnett Regional Council.
A Queensland police spokesperson said it would be alleged the woman engaged in persistent targeted abuse, harassment, and intimidation of the Councillor for an extended period between March 2020 and May 2021.
Detectives have charged the 57-year-old woman with extortion offences and will allege she attempted to obtain money and other benefits from the Councillor during this period.
She was refused police bail and remanded in custody to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.
