The lucky winner of the recent Kingaroy Rotary car raffle drove away in his new Mitsubishi Mirage on Saturday morning.
Jeremy Smith, from the Gold Coast, was presented with his keys by Huston Motors’ Mark Huston, whose dealership donated the $19,500 vehicle for the raffle.
The prize was one of the main fundraisers at the recent Rotary District 9600 Conference held in Kingaroy.
Kingaroy Rotary Club president and conference secretary Kat Butcher said the results were still be assessed but she believed about $25,000-$26,000 had been raised at the conference.
Funds raised from the car raffle – about $20,000 – will support youth suicide prevention in the South Burnett.
Jeremy said he bought his ticket when he came up to Nanango in February to attend the local races.
“I was here for a boys’ weekend for a friend’s birthday,” Jeremy told southburnett.com.au
“We were here for a couple of days on a mini-bus.
“I bought the tickets at the races. It was a no-brainer to buy a ticket when I saw it was for youth suicide because I work in the disability sector.
“I’d really like to thank Rotary – you guys do an awesome job – and the dealership.”
