A young woman was flown to hospital in a serious condition on Tuesday night after being trapped for more than two hours after a car hit a tree on the D’Aguilar Highway at Benarkin.
Emergency services were called to the incident, near Syd Allery Drive, at 11:50pm.
Firefighters used cutting equipment to remove the door and roof of the vehicle to free the woman, who was trapped by her lower limbs in the wreckage.
Six fire crews attended the scene to work on the difficult extraction.
The woman, aged in her 20s, was freed by 2:05am.
She was transferred to a waiting rescue helicopter and flown to Royal Brisbane Hospital with significant lower leg injuries.
A second person in the vehicle was transported by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.
