Darling Downs Health’s mobile women’s health nurse Marcia Hunt will be visiting the South Burnett next month to provide free and confidential health clinics.
She will be at:
- Kingaroy – December 2, phone Kingaroy Hospital on (07) 4162-9220 to make an appointment
- Yarraman – December 3, phone 0408-762-170 for an appointment
- Kilkivan and Goomeri – December 14, phone 0408-762-170 for an appointment
The mobile women’s health nurse offers a range of services include cervical screening tests, breast awareness, sexual health testing and advice for issues such as continence, menopause, family planning, contraception and general well-being.
In 2017, changes were made to the cervical screening program, with women now needing a cervical screening test every five years instead of a pap test every two years.
Ms Hunt said it was important to get cervical screenings tests when they were due, as they were the best protection against cervical cancer.
“While the test is every five years, we really encourage women to book into our clinics if they have any concerns, or if something doesn’t feel right,” she said.
