Weekend runners will be happy … parkrun will be back in action from November 28!
There are two parkrun venues in the South Burnett, on the Rail Trail at Wondai, and on the Ros Gregor Trail at Nanango.
The free Saturday morning events were halted earlier this year due to COVID-19 health restrictions.
“Following extensive discussions with the Queensland Department of Sport and Recreation, we have approval to reopen all parkrun events in Queensland on November 28,” a parkrun spokesperson said.
“When events reopen in Queensland they will each be required to display a unique QR code for contact tracing purposes and we will be strongly encouraging all participants to sign in. This system currently exists for parkruns in New Zealand and the ACT and is working effectively.”
Wondai parkrun’s Ros Heit said first-time parkrunners should visit the parkrun website to register first, but previously registered runners should just turn up at 7:00am on Saturday, November 28.
“There will be a COVID Safe plan in place,” she said.
parkruns in NSW and Victoria are still closed.
