Queensland businessman – and long-time financial supporter of the LNP – Ian McCauley OAM has died.
Mr McCauley, 78, died in Noosa on Tuesday after a brief illness.
The retired mining engineer received a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2010 for service to the mining industry.
The keen thoroughbred owner was also well-known in Queensland racing circles.
Mr McCauley is survived by his wife Di, the former National Party Member For Callide, and their three children.
Mrs McCauley, who was born in Wondai, was elected to State Parliament in 1986 and served as Local Government Minister from 1996-98.
The couple was married in 1965.
