Murgon Crusaders’ 2020-21 campaign in the Gympie cricket competition has begun on the front foot with a win against Gympie Colts.
The T20 match, played in Gympie on Saturday, was a nailbiter with Crusaders’ managing to overhaul Colts’ total of 8/106 in the last over with just two balls to spare.
Murgon finished with 5/107.
Nick Sanewski (2/11 off four overs) and Graham Brown (1/9 off four) starred with the ball for Murgon.
Matthew Springate (2/14 off four) and Nathan Nixon (2/14 off three) also piled on the pressure.
Crusaders’ batters Harry Sippel and Troy Dennien charged home in the last three overs to bring victory to Murgon.
Sippel (38) and Dennien (19) both finished unbeaten.
Jason Webber also hit a handy 27 for Crusaders.
