South Burnett landholders interested in setting up pest animal working groups have been invited to attend information sessions organised by the South Burnett Regional Council.

The information sessions will be held at:

  • Durong – Tuesday, October 20, from 9:00am at Durong Bowls Club
  • Nanango – Thursday, October 22, from 9:00am at Nanango RSL Club
  • Wondai – Friday, October 23, from 9:00am at Wondai Diggers Club

The South Burnett, North Burnett and Bundaberg Regional Councils have secured funding from the Federal Government’s “Communities Combating Pest and Weed Impacts During Drought” program to hold workshops to develop co-ordinated control programs and contribute to on-ground activities for the first year.

“Council is grateful for the support this program provides by promoting the concept of landholders working together to reduce the impact feral animals have on their livestock, crops or lifestyle,” Cr Scott Henschen said.

“The development of landholder-led control groups provides communities with the flexibility to take control of a problem in a way that best suits the needs of its members.”

People wishing to attend one of the information sessions should contact Council before Wednesday, October 14.

Expressions of Interest forms to apply for assistance to develop a pest animal working group plan and funding for on-ground control activities can be downloaded from the South Burnett Regional Council website (72kb Word doc)

For more information, contact Council’s Natural Resource Management team on (07) 4189-9100.

Expressions of interest close on Friday, November 13.
