A sod-turning ceremony will be held in Murgon on Saturday morning to mark the start of construction of a drop-in centre for military veterans.
The welfare centre will be built in Stephens Street, near the former Murgon Shire Council chambers.
Murgon RSL Sub-Branch president John Drew said it was exciting to begin work on the long-awaited project.
“The sod-turning represents the point at which our planning becomes reality,” he said.
“We are excited to be moving forward, and grateful to the Federal Government for the grant that has helped us bring this project to life.”
