AgForce Qld will receive $854,415 from the Federal Government to roll out a program which aims to educate primary schoolchildren about agriculture.
The grant is part of a $4.75 million national program involving State and Territory farming bodies.
Agriculture Minister David Littleproud announced the successful recipients of the “Educating Kids About Agriculture: Kids to Farms” grant program on Monday.
“This exciting program will see our State and Territory farming organisations connect our kids with farms and provide them with a real hands-on experience,” Minister Littleproud said.
“We want to give our kids a greater understanding of the important role Australia’s thriving agriculture sector plays in our society and these immersive, real life experiences on-farm are sure to spark a life-long love of the land.
“A key part of this program is to showcase to our kids the breadth of career opportunities available in agriculture.”
The grants will sponsor primary school visits to farms and other primary production worksites.
The program will run until June 30, 2022.
