It was a miracle no one was badly injured when an out-of-control 4WD crashed through plate glass windows and doors at the Lifeline Furniture shop in Kingaroy Street on Monday morning.

A police spokesperson said several small children were on the footpath at the time but were pushed to safety by a family member.

The incident occurred about 11:30am.

The elderly male driver of the 4WD apparently lost control of the vehicle as he was reversing out of a car parking spot on the other side of the road.

The vehicle then struck another vehicle travelling in Kingaroy Street before spearing backwards through the glass doors and windows of the former Elders building.

Fortunately there was no one in the shop as shattered glass rained down.

A staff member had only left the building a few minutes earlier.

The driver of the 4WD was taken by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital for observation.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

Police investigations are continuing.
