Residents and visitors to the Bunya Mountains can expect to experience some mobile phone disruptions between May 31 and June 7.

The disruptions will be caused by Telstra, which has announced it will be upgrading the mobile phone network around the Bunya Mountains area over an eight-day period.

A Telstra spokesperson said the upgrade work needs to be carried out during daylight hours for health and safety reasons.

Telstra technicians will need to switch off some sectors which support mobile services in the area as work is carried out, and this will result in some service disruptions.

If the upgrade proceeds to plan, work is expected to be completed by June 7.

Telstra said efforts would be made to keep site outages to a minimum.

“Every effort will be made to reduce the impact to our customers,” the spokesperson said.

“We apologise for any inconvenience.”
