Cardboard number plates can’t fool police, as a 30-year-old Benarkin North woman has learned.
Kingaroy police spotted a Holden sedan on Rogers Drive in the early hours of last Wednesday allegedly sporting a homemade cardboard registration plate.
“Inquiries not surprisingly revealed the vehicle was unregistered,” Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney said.
“The woman also failed to have red P plates displayed.”
The woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 6 charged with driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, displaying false plates and failing to display red P plates.
Her vehicle was also impounded and police will be seeking its forfeiture under anti-hooning legislation.

Police are investigating the theft of a handbag from the front verandah of an Alford Street home on Wednesday morning.
The handbag contained keys, money, a mobile phone and personal papers.

Drugs
- A 32-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 7 charged with possessing drugs and drug utensils after he was detained by police on May 18 in relation to another matter. A search of the man at the Kingaroy Police Station allegedly located a quantity of cannabis and a drug utensil.
- A 29-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on June 26 charged with possessing drugs and drug utensils after police searched a home in First Avenue, Kingaroy, at 4:00pm on May 19. They allegedly located a small amount of cannabis.
- Three people will face drugs charges after police allegedly located a small quantity of cannabis during a search of a residence in Edward Street, Kingaroy, on Wednesday morning. A 20-year-old Kingaroy man, a 42-year-old Kingaroy woman and a 56-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 6 charged with possessing drugs and drug utensils.
- A 52-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 13 after police allegedly located a small quantity of amphetamine, drug utensils and ammunition during a search of an address in First Avenue, Kingaroy, at 7:25pm on Saturday night. The man has been charged with possessing drugs and drug utensils, failing to dispose of a used syringe and unlawful possession of explosives (ammunition).

- A 55-year-old Morayfield man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on June 15 charged with drug driving after police stopped a Hino truck in Haly Street, Kingaroy, at 6:45pm last Monday (May 18).
- A 31-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on June 26 charged with drug driving and driving unaccompanied on a learner’s permit after police pulled over a Kia hatchback in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, at 5:40pm last Tuesday.
