Toowoomba Regional Council is reopening playgrounds, skate parks, outdoor gyms and barbecue areas from Saturday – but gathering restrictions will apply.
The re-opening is in line with the State Government’s Roadmap to Easing COVID-19 restrictions.
Mayor Paul Antonio said the easing of restrictions was an acknowledgement of the commitment of the community to abiding by State and Federal Government public health directions.
“The re-opening of our playgrounds, skate parks, outdoor gyms and barbecue areas is a step towards the return to normality,” Mayor Antonio said.
“Users will still need to adhere to relevant Queensland Health requirements with a maximum gathering of 10 persons permitted under Stage 1 easing of restrictions.
“Despite COVID-19 closures, Council parks have remained open and continue to be an excellent outlet for a walk, a picnic or to kick a football with members of your household.
“We thank the community for their continued patience during this unique time.
“Our number one priority during this challenging time is the health and wellbeing of our community and staff.”
