A policewoman was allegedly kicked in the neck while trying to arrest a man at Kingaroy Hospital on Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the hospital at 1:15pm after reports a 40-year-old Kingaroy man had refused to leave when asked by staff.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said the man refused multiple requests by police to leave and instead laid down on a couch.

He was then arrested but allegedly resisted efforts by police to walk him to the police vehicle.

“When police were placing him the vehicle he has lashed out and kicked a female police officer in the neck,” Snr Sgt Tierney said.

The incident caused minor bruising.

“The officer suffered soreness however didn’t require medical attention.”

The man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 3 charged with assaulting police, obstructing police and contravening a direction.

Property

Thieves have stolen musical, computer and sound equipment from a church in Markwell Street, Kingaroy.

Entry was gained by jemmying a door.

The break-in occurred between May 6-11. Investigations are continuing.

  • A 28-year-old Coolabunia man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on June 1 charged with drink-driving after police pulled over his Nissan SUV in Peterson Drive at 10:45pm on Wednesday. He allegedly blew 0.122 BAC during a roadside breath test.

Drugs

Six people have been charged with drug offences after a number of separate incidents in Kingaroy at the weekend:

  • A 30-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 27 charged with possessing a dangerous drug and a drug utensil after police allegedly located a small quantity of amphetamine and a drug pipe after speaking to him in Alford Street, Kingaroy, at 1:10am on May 9.
  • A 58-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 20 charged with possessing a dangerous drug and a drug utensil after police searched a house in Haly Street, Kingaroy, on May 9.  They allegedly located a small quantity of amphetamine, cannabis and a drug pipe.
  • A 29-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 27 charged with failing to dispose of a used syringe properly after police spoke to her in Freemans Lane on Saturday.
  • A 21-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 13 charged with drug possession after police pulled over a Holden hatchback on Haly Street, Kingaroy, at 4:50pm on May 9. They allegedly located a small amount of amphetamine.
  • A 20-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 13 charged with drug possession after police were called to Kingaroy Hospital at 8:30pm on May 9. A search of the man allegedly located a small quantity of amphetamine as well as cannabis.
  • At 1:00pm on Sunday,  police attended a Candello Close address in relation to another matter. While there, they allegedly located a 48-year-old Imbil woman in possession of a small amount of cannabis and amphetamine She will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 20 charged with possessing a dangerous drug and drug utensils.
