Cooyar Agricultural Society will receive more than $430,000 from the Federal Government to build a new multipurpose facility at the showgrounds.
The $430,215 grant, announced on Friday, is part of the $20 million Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants program to renew and reinvigorate ageing showgrounds.
The grant will enable the Cooyar Show Society to build a facility which will include new toilet and shower amenities, a kitchen, storage areas and an administration office.
Bell Show Society has also received $65,000 to provide permanent facilities for livestock holding and to upgrade display facilities in the pavilion.
Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said the grants would also serve as a much-needed cash injection for regional towns in the wake of recent bushfires and the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Agricultural shows are a major drawcard for our regional towns, many of which have had to cancel events this year due to COVID-19,” Minister Littleproud said.
“These grants will help show societies refurbish their showgrounds and facilities, so that when their next event rolls around it will be even more attractive to showgoers.”
