Toowoomba Regional Council is inviting applications for the new Coronavirus Community Support Micro Grants program, part of the $10.5 million relief package endorsed by Council this week.

Cr Geoff McDonald said the micro grants complemented State and Federal Government relief packages, filling a gap for groups that are not already receiving assistance.

Cr James O’Shea said the new program would provide grants of up to $499 for eligible organisations.

“Community groups, including sporting organisations, have until close of business, Friday May 15, to apply for grants of up to $499 for a range of equipment, upgrades and education opportunities through the program,” Cr O’Shea said.

“Applications will be assessed within a week of the closing date, with successful recipients starting to receive funding agreement forms by the end of May.

“Council’s Community Development Officers will be able to assist groups in putting together an application.

“Due to the tight timelines for this special grant round, we will be only accepting emailed application forms.”

The Coronavirus Micro Grants program allows eligible groups to apply for the following:

  • Sporting equipment
  • Online training and professional development
  • Resources and promotion (physical and online)
  • Equipment, repairs and upgrades
  • Communication tools for community groups (eg. website, Facebook, email, communication platforms, booking platforms)
  • PPE and blue cards for volunteers.

Eligible organisations can access the Micro-Grant Program application form via a local Community Development Officer or online
