The Great Australian Pumpkin Roll – which was to go ahead on May 31 before COVID-19 came along – is going virtual!
The organisers of the annual Goomeri Pumpkin Festival announced this week that people can still roll a pumpkin in 2020 – not down Policeman’s Hill, but in the safety of their own homes.
And there will still be great prizes to be won.
“Think up your weirdest and wackiest method and location to roll your pumpkin and send us the video,” the team from the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival said.
“Let us see what you’ve got! Roll a pumpkin on the sofa, roll a pumpkin on the bed or in your backyard. The most creative pumpkin roll will win.
“Entries will be viewed by two independent judges who will decide the best and most creative pumpkin roll.
“We will also have a People’s Choice prize. The video with the most likes will win.”
Prizes for the “Virtual Great Australian Pumpkin Roll” include a perpetual trophy, an accommodation voucher for a two-night cabin stay at Barambah Bush Caravan Park, a $50 gift voucher from the Goomeri Emporium and a $30 morning tea voucher from The Goomeri Bakery.
The People’s Choice winner will receive a $50 gift voucher from the Goomeri Emporium and a $30 morning tea voucher from The Goomeri Bakery.
To enter, post a video on the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Facebook page or email it (more information is available on the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival website).
Entries to the competition are free.
