Murgon agents yarded 700 head at Tuesday’s fortnightly cattle sale, an increase of 40 per cent on yarding figures a month ago.
Export cattle sold to easier rates throughout, based on the last sale.
Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Durong, Nanango, Yarraman, Kingaroy and the Murgon district.
Sale results:
- Bulls topped at $2.65/kg and $2150
- Bullocks sold to $2.93/kg and $1840
- Heavy Cows over 500kg topped at $2.45/kg and $1698, averaging $2.33/kg
- Cows 400-500kg sold to $2.33/kg for a $1.98 average
- Cows under 400kg topped at $2.20/kg
- Export heifers sold to $2.98/kg and $1730
- Charolais cross steers from Gayndah sold for $3.20/kg and $1415
- Charbray steers weighing 325kg sold for $1105 at $3.40/kg
- 380kg Santa steers sold for $3.37/kg to return $1283
- Droughtmaster cross steers from Nanango sold for $1249 at $3.25/kg
- Droughtmaster weaner steers from Windera sold for $721 at $3.46/kg
- Charolais cross weaner steers from Gayndah sold for $3.44/kg and $958
- Light Droughtmaster cross weaner steers sold to $3.74/kg and $590
- Charolais heifers weighing 380kg sold for $1174 at $3.09/kg
- 330kg Santa heifers sold for $3.07/kg, returning $1013
- 293kg Gelbvieh cross heifers sold for $936 at $3.19/kg
- 262kg Charolais heifers from Gayndah sold for $3.35/kg and $880
- Local Droughtmaster cross weaner heifers sold for $3.34/kg and $825
- Charbray weaner heifers from Durong sold for $815 at $3.26/kg
- 293kg Gelbvieh cross heifers sold for $936 at $3.19/kg
- Droughtmaster cross cows and calves sold for $1280
