Detectives are investigating an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning which woke many Kingaroy residents.
An old Holden Commodore was set on fire in Court Lane, near the police station, about 1:30am.
Fireworks on the vehicle then exploded, sounding like a string of gunshots.
Police and other emergency services were called.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said police were following up inquiries into the potentially dangerous incident.
They believe it may be connected to street racing reported earlier in the evening.
