Hearing Australia is bringing its bright blue bus to Kingaroy this month to raise hearing health awareness in the local community.
Staff will be offering free 15-minute hearing checks in the bus, which will be parked outside Aldi (Tuesday, Feb 25, 9:00am-1:00pm) and Bunnings (Wednesday, Feb 26, 8:30am to noon).
The mobile hearing service has provided more than 175,000 free hearing checks in communities across Australia since it launched in 2009.
Hearing Australia says an estimated 3.6 million Australians are affected by hearing loss, and this is projected to more than double to 7.8 million by 2060.
Visitors to the Hearing Australia bus can also get information about how to keep their hearing in good shape and view a display of easy-to-use hearing devices for around the home. This includes headsets for watching TV and alert systems for doorbells.
No appointment is necessary.
Hearing Australia will provide free 15-minute hearing checks to any interested adults over 18 who visit the bus on the day.
While the 15-minute checks are free, other services may attract charges/fees or may be subsidised for those eligible under the Federal Government’s Hearing Services Program.
