A man has been charged after he was spotted allegedly dumping a cat and about nine kittens on Mt Wooroolin Road in Kingaroy on Wednesday night.

Several animals were rescued and surrendered to the RSPCA.

Police investigations identified the man as a 36-year-old from Kingaroy.

He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on February 24 charged with releasing animals without lawful excuse.

Drugs

  • A man has been charged with several offences after police were called to a disturbance at a Tuite Street, Kingaroy, address about 11:30pm on Friday. Police allegedly located a 39-year-old Kingaroy man smashing beer bottles on the road and behaving in a disorderly manner. When they searched him they allegedly found drug utensils and a small quantity of cannabis. He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on February 10 charged with possessing a dangerous drug and drug utensils. He was also issued with an infringement notice for public nuisance ($400 fine).
  • A 23-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on February 24 charged with possessing a dangerous drug, drug utensils and unlawfully possessing a knife in a public place after police stopped him in First Avenue, Kingaroy,  at 1:05 am on Sunday.

Traffic

  • A 40-year-old Burrum Heads man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on February 24 charged with drink driving after police stopped his Holden ute in Fisher Street, Kingaroy, at 12:40am on Sunday. The man allegedly returned a positive sample to a roadside breath test of 0.063 BAC.
  • A 26-year-old Newport woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on February 24 charged with driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle bearing false plates after police intercepted a Ford sedan in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy, about 10:30am on Sunday.
  • A 22-year-old Murgon man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 9 charged with driving while disqualified after police pulled over a Holden hatchback in Cowie Drive, Kingaroy, at 2:25pm on Sunday.

Kingaroy Police responded to a variety of incidents between January 27 and February 2 including drug, property and traffic-related offences. Police also attended eight calls related to domestic violence, issued 15 infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 211 roadside breath tests.
