Families doing it tough in the South Burnett will be a bit better off thanks to the generosity of a local motor vehicle dealer.

The Bill Hull Car Centre in Kingaroy donates $100 for each new or used car sold at the dealership to an organisation of the customer’s choice.

On Wednesday, South Burnett CTC CEO Nina Temperton received a cheque for $1000 from Bill Hull Car Centre owner Jacqui Trace.

Mrs Temperton told southburnett.com.au the money raised through the “Local Dollar Drives” program would be turned into vouchers for use in emergency relief.

She said the need in the region at the moment was “horrendous”.

“It is unmanageable. (Welfare agencies) are over-stretched,” she said.

Mrs Temperton said donations both in goods and vouchers were “larger than ever before” before Christmas but were all gone now.

“The last voucher was given out on January 10,” she said.
