The Bureau of Meteorology has warned there is a severe risk of bushfires in the Wide Bay-Burnett and Darling Downs regions on Thursday and Friday.
At 4:28pm on Wednesday, BOM issued a Fire Weather Warning for the Darling Downs / Granite Belt and Wide Bay / Burnett forecast districts.
BOM said a hot and dry air mass over southern Queensland will combine with southwesterly winds to worsen fire conditions with severe fire dangers forecast to continue through Friday and into Saturday.
Locally severe fire dangers are also possible in western parts of the south-east coast (chiefly the Lockyer Valley and western Scenic Rim areas) and in eastern parts of the Maranoa and Warrego district.
