Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council has declared Friday, October 18, a public holiday within the shire to mark “Cherbourg Day”.

Mayor Arnold Murray has encouraged community members to take a day out to celebrate everything that is great about Cherbourg.

He hopes family members will come back to the town for the day to spend time with family and loved ones.

The Cherbourg Day holiday applies to all workers, organisations and businesses operating in Cherbourg.

The holiday does not apply to workers or business outside of the Cherbourg community.
