Time is running out for schools to apply for funding for new computers, sporting equipment or refurbishments through the Federal Government’s $30.2 million Local Schools Community Fund.
Up to $200,000 is available in each Federal electorate and all schools – government, Catholic and independent – are eligible to apply.
Schools can apply for funding for one project between $1000 and $20,000.
Funding can be for the total cost of the project, or part of the cost where the school contributes an amount.
Examples of projects a school may wish to apply for include, but are not limited to:
- Small scale extensions / refurbishments
- Installation of computer or ICT facilities / equipment / software
- Playground and sporting equipment
- Shade structures
- Landscaping
- Procurement of musical facilities, furniture, computer equipment (eg. digital whiteboards), library resources
- Air-conditioning
- Measures to target student wellbeing
- Counselling or youth mental health support
- Specific facilities for students with a disability in a school.
Applications close on September 30.
Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said schools in remote areas could apply for funding for excursions.
