Eleven people have been charged with drug-driving offences after allegedly failing roadside tests in the Kingaroy area during the past week:

  • August 20, 9:55pm – A 37-year-old Crawford woman driving a heavy vehicle was stopped in Youngman Street.
  • August 22, 3:10pm – A 34-year-old Nanango man driving a Holden sedan in Haly Street. He has also been charged with possessing a drug utensil.
  • August 22, 4:55pm – A 39-year-old Kingaroy man driving a Holden sedan in Booth Street.
  • August 22, 5:45pm – A 34-year-old Wooroolin man driving a Holden sedan on the Bunya Highway.
  • August 22, 7:30pm – A 20-year-old Memerambi man driving a Ford sedan on Albert Street. He has also been charged with drug possession (methamphetamine). A passenger in the vehicle, a 27-year-old Kingaroy man, has been charged with drug possession (cannabis).
  • August 23, 12:45pm – A 19-year-old Kingaroy man driving a Holden sedan in Knight Street.
  • August 23, 5:05pm – A 26-year-old Kingaroy man driving a Hyundai sedan in Alford Street.
  • August 23, 7:40pm – A 27-year-old Kingaroy man driving a Daihatsu hatchback in Youngman Street.
  • August 24, 7:15pm – A 22-year-old Kingaroy man driving a Toyota coupe on River Road.
  • August 24, 8:30pm – A 23-year-old Kingaroy man driving a Toyota coupe on Kingaroy Street.
  • August 25, 1:25pm – A 60-year-old Kingaroy man driving a Holden sedan on Kingaroy Street.

Swerving to avoid an animal has been blamed for a single-vehicle crash in Haly Street, Kingaroy, last Monday (August 19).

Police were called to the incident at 7:20pm.

A 19-year-old Kingaroy man lost control of his Holden ute after allegedly swerving to avoid an animal. The vehicle mounted a footpath and crashed through a fence.

The driver was issued a traffic infringement notice for failing to maintain control of vehicle ($311 fine).

A 33-year-old Nanango woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 23 charged with unlicensed driving, possession of restricted drugs and possession of property used in a drug-related offence after police pulled over a Nissan stationwagon on William Street, Kingaroy, at 12:30am on August 24.

Drugs

  • A 25-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 16 charged with possessing a dangerous drug after police stopped a Ford sedan in Somerset Street, Kingaroy, at 8:45pm on August 24. A police search allegedly located a small quantity of cannabis.
  • On August 24, police attended an Alford Street address in relation to another matter. While there they allegedly located a small amount of cannabis. A 27-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 30 charged with possessing a dangerous drug and a drug utensil.

Assault

On August 21, police received a complaint at 1:40pm from a woman who said she had been spat on while shopping. A 21-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 16 charged with the alleged serious assault.

Property 

Police are investigating the unlawful entry to a home in Frangipani Street on Sunday (August 26).  Entry was gained through a locked rear glass sliding door between 8:30pm and 10:30pm but no property was stolen.

Kingaroy Police responded to a variety of incidents between August 19-25 including drug, good order, traffic, and property-related offences. They also attended six calls related to domestic violence, issued 24 infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 93 roadside breath tests.
