Car thieves stole keys and personal items after forcing open a window in Thorn Street , Murgon.

Murgon police said the incident occurred between 7:30pm and 10:10pm on August 13.

Police located the stolen vehicle the next day in Cherbourg.

Investigations are continuing.

Property

Investigations are also continuing into a number of other incidents:

  • Between May 2 and August 15, thieves broke into a home in Bell Street, Cherbourg, by smashing a window. Once inside, they stole electronic items before running off.
  • Between 3:00pm on August 10 and 1:00pm on August 12, vandals damaged a window of a home in Palmer Street, Murgon.
  • About 2:55pm on August 13 a man drove off from the BP garage at Murgon without paying for his fuel.
  • Between 4:00pm on August 13 and 5:30am on August 14, would-be thieves broke into a business in Gore Street, Murgon, by smashing a window.
  • Between 8:00am on August 15 and 2:30pm on August 22, unknown offenders damaged fences at a property on Seiler Road at Ballogie.
  • Between 3:00pm on August 15 and 9:00am on August 22, thieves stole building materials from a property on Chinchilla-Wondai Road at Cushnie.

Traffic

Four people will face court charged with unlicensed driving after being stopped recently by police:

  • A 22-year-old Cherbourg male was stopped in Jerome Street, Cherbourg, on August 11.
  • A 56-year-old Murgon man was stopped on Cherbourg Road, Cherbourg, on August 13.
  • A 25-year-old Murgon woman was stopped on Macalister Street, Murgon, on August 16.
  • A 27-year-old Kingaroy woman was stopped on Perkins Street, Murgon, on August 16.

Drugs

A 32-year-old Goomeri man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on September 17 charged with unlawful possession of restricted drugs after police pulled over and searched a vehicle about 10:40pm on August 15 in Krebs Street, Murgon.

Police from Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai responded to a variety of incidents between August 9-16. These included drug, traffic and property offences. Police also attended 22 calls related to domestic violence, issued four infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 64 roadside breath tests.
