FLASHBACK: A burst water main in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy caused extensive damage in 2016 … the Council has since embarked on a multi-year, multi-million dollar program to replace the region’s ageing underground infrastructure

August 2, 2019

Residents living in several parts of Kingaroy will get their water mains upgraded over the coming three months.

South Burnett Regional Council has announced it will carry out water main replacements in six locations between mid-August and mid-October.

The work is being carried out as part of a long-term plan to upgrade the town’s ageing underground infrastructure, which is approaching the end of its working life.

The streets that will be affected are:

  • Youngman Street (Haly to Avoca Street)
  • Youngman Street (Venman Street to Banksia Drive)
  • Toomey Street (Youngman to William Street)
  • Burnett Street (Haly to Alford Street)
  • Knight Street (Walter Road to Hodge Street)
  • West Street (Haly Street to Kurtellan Crescent)

Council has advised that residents and businesses on these streets may suffer temporary interruptions to the water supply while work is being carried out.

There are also likely to be some restrictions on parking and property access, but affected properties will be notified before work commences.

The Kingaroy water main upgrades follow other recent upgrades in Blackbutt and Nanango.

Underground infrastructure in Lamb Street, Murgon, will also be upgraded later this financial year as part of the Council’s plan to install new footpaths in the town’s CBD.
