An 83-year-old woman has been taken to Murgon Hospital after her car rolled back on her in Lamb Street, Murgon, on Monday afternoon.

Officer-in-charge of Murgon Police, Senior Sergeant Steve Stewart, said the woman apparently had got out of the vehicle to check behind it when the incident occurred.

The vehicle rolled back and she was struck by the door.

She became trapped between the vehicle and the gutter.

A QAS spokesperson said the incident occurred at 1:14pm.

Paramedics assessed the woman at the scene and she was transported in a stable condition to Murgon Hospital with suspected leg injuries.

Property

  • A 24-year-old Leichhardt woman will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on July 30, charged with stealing after she allegedly entered a business in Lamb Street, Murgon, about 7:30am on June 20, took several items from a shelf and left without paying.
  • A 14-year-old Cherbourg boy is being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act after car keys and a vehicle were stolen from a residence in Stephens Street, Murgon.  The vehicle was located in Cherbourg.

Investigations are continuing into a number of other unrelated incidents:

  • June 14 – Between 10:00am and noon, a screen door was damaged at a home in Davidson Street, Murgon.
  • Between 11:00pm on June 15 and 6:00am on June 17, would-be thieves tried to break into a business in Macalister Street, Murgon.
  • June 17 – About 5:38pm, a shoplifter stole an item from a business in Lamb Street, Murgon.
  • Between 6:00am on June 21 and 9:30am on June 22, thieves forced open a door at a house in Smyth Street, Murgon, and then stole a motorbike from the garage.

Traffic

  • A 42-year-old Barlil man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on August 20 charged with drug-driving  after police stopped a vehicle in Krebs Street, Murgon, about 1:40pm on June 14.
  • A 25-year-old Cherbourg woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 19 charged with drug-driving after police stopped a vehicle in Lamb Street, Murgon, about 9:30am on June 15.

Officers from Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai responded to a variety of incidents between June 14-21 including drug, traffic and property offences. They also attended 10 calls related to domestic violence, issued 23 infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 69 roadside breath tests.
