A 62-year-old man died in a collision at the corner of Benair and Reedy Creek roads near Inverlaw on Wednesday afternoon.

The man, from Alice Creek, was the driver and sole occupant of a Ford Falcon trayback ute which hit the rear of a large truck.

The ute was travelling south on Benair Road when it clipped the rear of the truck which was travelling east on Reedy Creek Road.

The man was thrown from the vehicle by the impact.

A police spokesperson said preliminary investigations suggested he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The 31-year-old male truck driver was not injured.

Forensic crash investigators, who were examining the site of Monday’s night’s horrific collision near Kumbia, were called across to the Inverlaw crash.

Ambulance paramedics and QFES units also attended the incident.

Police were speaking to witnesses and investigations are continuing.

The death is the 13th road fatality to occur on South Burnett roads during the past six months.

  1. The highway between Wondai and Tingoora is the worst I’ve ever seen it. It’s like a rollercoaster! Overtaking is allowed, but I can’t imagine that this would be at all safe at 100km/h – the marked speed.
