A 21-year-old Kingaroy woman will face court following a crash in Markwell Street, Kingaroy, on April 29.

Police will allege the woman lost control of her black Holden sedan while turning right at a roundabout.

The vehicle then crashed into a fence and a bus shelter.

The driver was not injured in the crash but will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 20 charged with unlicensed driving, failing to have proper control of a vehicle and wilfully making unnecessary noise or smoke.

A 54-year-old Teelah woman has been issued with a traffic infringement notice for failing to give way after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Kingaroy-Cooyar Road and Industrial Avenue in Kingaroy last Wednesday afternoon (May 1).

The woman’s Nissan X-Trail allegedly failed to give way while making a turn, colliding with a Kia Carnival.

The driver of the Kia was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 19-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 7 charged with possessing a knife in a public place after police stopped him at 11:25pm on April 28 in Edward Street, Kingaroy.

Traffic

  • A 35-year-old Wattle Camp man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on June 3 charged with driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle after police stopped his Ford in Haly Street, Kingaroy, at 5:00am on April 29. The man will also face a charge of failing to notify a change of address and offences involving registration certificates.
  • A 36-year-old Crawford woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on June 17 charged with drug driving after police pulled over her Ford ute in Avoca Street, Kingaroy, at 3:35pm on May 5.

Property

Investigations are continuing into a number of thefts in the Kingaroy area:

  • April 30, 1:00am: A black Nissan dual cab was stolen from a Moonya Street premises.  The car was locked and secured in the driveway of the property when it was stolen.
  • April 30: During the day, unknown persons forced entry into a residence on Kingaroy-Cooyar Road at Taabinga. Once inside, they stole bottles of spirits, commemorative coins, a drill and a jewellery box.
  • May 1, 1:30am: An unknown person entered a unit at Savoy Court, Kingaroy, stealing car keys and money from a Nissan stationwagon.
  • April 30: Overnight, an unknown person entered a Volkswagen hatchback at a residence in Steele Court, Kingaroy, and stole a work laptop computer, driver’s licence, credit cards and cash.
  • April 30: Overnight, an unknown person entered a house at Alford Street, Kingaroy, through a laundry window and stole a mobile phone.
  • May 1, 11.15am: Two men and a woman stole goods from a business in Youngman Street.
  • May 2, 9.55pm: An offender entered a business in King Street, Kingaroy,  looked around the premises and then left without paying for goods.
  • May 4, 2:00am:  A verbal and physical altercation took place in the car park of a Haly Street business between four women. A short while after the altercation, it was discovered a mobile phone had been stolen.

Drugs

  • A 54-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court charged with drug possession after police stopped her Ford in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, at 3:10am on April 30. A search of the vehicle allegedly located a small quantity of cannabis and seeds.
  • A 34-year-old Gordonbrook man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 24 charged with possessing drugs and drug utensils, producing dangerous drugs, and unlawful possession of weapons and explosives (ammunition) after police searched a Wilsons Road residence at 8:00am on April 30. Police allegedly located cannabis plants, a rifle and ammunition, cannabis, cannabis oil and drug utensils.

Officers from Kingaroy responded to a variety of incidents between April 29 and May 5 including drug, weapons, traffic, and property-related offences.  They also attended four calls related to domestic violence, issued 20 infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 48 roadside breath tests.
