Families will be the focus at this weekend’s Kingaroy Show … and organisers promise there’ll be plenty to keep everyone amused!
The two-day show – which is celebrating its 112th outing this year – will have free face painting, a free animal farm and a free puppet show for the younger kids.
For teenagers, there’ll also be lots of rides and amusements in sideshow alley to keep them happy.
And then there’s the family favourites: miniature horses (8:30am on Saturday and 9:00am on Sunday), poultry (including a Barnyard Chook Show at 8:30am on Sunday), pavilion displays and plenty of beef and dairy cattle.
Equestrian events will be in the ring from 8:30am and the Burnett Birdkeepers will have displays of colourful parrots and other birds on both days.
Dad will enjoy the ute show (10:00am Saturday) and vintage tractors and V8 tractor pulls by members of the Kingaroy and District Vintage Machinery Association (6:00pm Saturday and 9:00am Sunday).
The Show’s official opening will be held in the Main Ring at 1:30pm on Saturday, followed by the Grand Parade at 1:45pm.
Saturday night will be topped off by a giant fireworks display in the main ring from 7:00pm.
Children who have pet guinea pigs have been invited to enter them in a special competition on Sunday.
The guinea pigs will be judged in various categories and there’ll be prizes for the cutest guinea pig and the best fancy dress. Judging will start at 1:00pm and prizes will be awarded at 3:00pm.
And then there’s the speedway which is loads of fun for the whole family. Racing starts at 5:00pm on Sunday.
The 50th anniversary race meeting – the Kingaroy Speedway Club’s last meeting for the season – will feature Late Models, Modified Sedans, Street Stocks, Production Sedans and Juniors.
Best of all … entry to the speedway is free (it’s included in the cost of entry to the show!)
Daily show entry is $15 for adults, $10 for children aged 12-17, and under 12s free.
Gates open both days at 8:00am.
