Queensland primary producers can now claim up to 25 per cent of the cost of a private contractor to desilt a dam on their drought-declared property.

They can claim up to a maximum of amount of $25,000 per “property identification code” per financial year, and claims can be backdated to July last year.

They must obtain an endorsed Dam Desilting Statement before paying for dam desilting. This provides assurances that the proposed desilting activity can be considered for the rebate and is within the typical range of costs.

However, a statement is not needed if the dam desilting took place between July 1, 2018, and the start of the scheme on April 6, 2019.

Claims are lodged directly with Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The dam desilting rebate is being funded by the Federal Government and administered by the State Government.
