The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club held its first Club Day of the season last Saturday, attracting more than a dozen young riders.

The day was held in memory of long-time club supporter and fan Barry Stead who died last year.

Under 16 NSW 250cc champion Flynn Nicol won both the 125cc and 250cc club events and took home the inaugural Barry Stead Memorial Trophy.

A special guest on the day was BRTS Racing team manager Ivor Harm who brought along some of his senior riders, including well-known local Cordell Rogerson, to help out.

BRTS team member Kane Lawrence, who came third in the 500cc West Australian titles last month, flew up from Newcastle to be one of the volunteers.

Kane and several other of the BRTS team were scheduled to compete at North Brisbane the following day.
