Police are investigating another string of break-ins, attempted break-ins and rock-throwing incidents in the Murgon and Cherbourg areas.

  • About 1:20am on February 24, unknown offenders broke a window to enter a business on Dutton Street East, Murgon. They did not remove any property and departed via the broken window.
  • About 10.30pm the same day, would-be thieves attempted to open the doors of a vehicle parked on Jefferies Street, Murgon, but they were disturbed by a resident.
  • Between 6:45pm and 7:20pm on February 24, thieves entered a business in Macalister Street, Murgon, through an unsecured door. They stole various foodstuffs and drinks.
  • About 12:30am on February 25, thieves entered the yard of a business on Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg, and siphoned fuel from machinery.
  • Between 5:00pm on February 25 and 7:00am on February 26, thieves forced open the rear door of a business on Lamb Street, Murgon, and stole cash and alcohol.

A 26-year-old Cherbourg man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 19 charged with possession of suspected stolen property after police visited a house in Barambah Avenue at Cherbourg about 7:20am on February 27.

  • About 11:00pm on February 23, glass bottles were thrown at a house in Hillview Street, Cherbourg, damaging a door and a window.
  • About 8:45pm, vandals threw rocks at a vehicle parked in a car park on Fisher Street, Cherbourg, causing damage. About 15 minutes lates, a rock was thrown at a vehicle travelling on Broadway Street, Cherbourg, smashing the rear window.

Two Cherbourg women, aged 19 and 22, have been charged with possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils after police visited a home in Jerome Street, Cherbourg, about 9:00am on February 28. They will appear in Cherbourg Magistrates Court at a later date.

Officers from Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai responded to a variety of incidents between February 22 and March 1 including drug, traffic and property offences. They also attended 22 calls related to domestic violence, issued two infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 72 roadside breath tests.
