West Wooroolin property owners assess the damage after the fire was put out … two sheds and a 20 acre grass paddock were destroyed

February 24, 2019

A fire at a West Wooroolin property was brought under control at 2:20pm on Sunday, about 40 minutes after fire crews arrived on the scene.

The fire – on a property at the corner of West Wooroolin and Oakdean roads – burned about 20 acres of grassland and destroyed two sheds.

A QFES spokesperson said the blaze began when a small rubbish fire was hit by strong wind gusts and spread to a nearby paddock.

Fortunately the wind’s direction blew the fire away from the main house, which was never under threat.

Urban and rural fire crews from as far away as Murgon and Mt Mceuen attended the scene and quickly brought fire under control.

No one was injured in the incident.
