Kingaroy’s long-established Friendship Markets are moving again … and this time, it’s into the shade.
The markets, which had been running outside the South Burnett Senior Citizens Centre on the third Saturday of every month for more than a decade, relocated to the Kingaroy Showgrounds in October 2016.
Their operation was taken over by the Kingaroy Show Society and Rotary, and everyone seemed very happy with the change of venue.
The new location near the Cheers Triangle end of the Showgrounds provided plenty of space for parking and lots of room for future growth.
Hoewever the summer sun has been hot this year, and stallholders who needed power had to bring their own generators or miss out.
So the markets will be relocating to the River Road end of the showgrounds from this Saturday (February 16) to take advantage of trees there.
Friendship Markets spokesman Wayne Bushell said apart from shade, the new location also provides plumbed toilets and the possibility of power outlets for stallholders if they need it.
These extra facilities will provide a better environment for both stallholders and customers.
“We welcome all enquiries from stallholders and can now accept a wider range than we could before,” Wayne said.
“We’re particularly interested in people with fresh fruit and vegies to sell but other stallholders are very welcome, too.”
Stalls can be booked through the market’s Facebook page or by phoning Wayne on 0432-355-166.
