A man, aged in his 20s, has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after his sedan and a truck collided head-on on the D’Aguilar Highway near Benarkin on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the incident about 3:00pm, about 50 metres from the Scott Street turn-off to Benarkin.
The collision forced the sedan off the road and into a tree.
The male driver, who was the sole occupant, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut free by firefighters.
He was then transferred to the Benarkin State School oval by ambulance for a medevac.
The QGAir Rescue 500 helicopter transported the injured man to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The truck driver was not physically injured during the incident.
The Forensic Crash Unit attended and will conduct investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
