Fire crews were called on Monday morning to a blaze burning in inaccessible land near Weir Weir Road and Manar Road, Boondooma.
Emergency services responded to the incident about 11:00am.
A QFES spokesperson said firefighters were working to strengthen containment lines and would undertake backburning operations in the area.
The fire was not threatening any property.
At 4:30pm, four fire crews were at the incident.

Two water bombing aircraft were called out on Sunday to assist firefighters with a blaze burning near Gaults Road at Mount Stanley.
The planes, which were filled with water and foam at Kingaroy Airport, dropped multiple loads on the fire.
The fire broke out about 6:30pm on Saturday.
At 5:00pm on Monday, four fire crews were still reported to be at the incident.

Fire crews have also been monitoring a fire near Aikenheads Road at Brovinia, which broke out on Saturday; and incidents at Benarkin North and Booubyjan.

Fire bans in the South Burnett area were extended at the weekend.
The local fire ban in Toowoomba Regional Council area has been extended to 11:59pm on Tuesday, December 4. This ban also includes residents in the Southern Downs, Goondiwindi, Western Downs and Maranoa council areas.
The local fire ban in the North Burnett, South Burnett, Cherbourg, Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gympie, Sunshine Coast and Noosa Local Government areas is expected to remain in place until 11:59pm on Wednesday, December 5.
HQPlantations has advised that the Blackbutt recreation area is also closed to the public until Wednesday due to the very high fire danger.
