South Burnett Regional Council’s storm recovery barbecue on Sunday is shaping up to be a big day.

Representatives from a number of government agencies, including Centrelink, DAF and the Burnett Mary Regional Group, will be on hand to provide information to people affected by storms in the South Burnett which have occurred since Boxing Day last year.

Representatives from the Kingaroy Men’s Shed and local charities will also be attending.

This is the third Storm Recovery Day that Council has organised in conjunction with BIEDO since the Boxing Day storms ripped through the Kumbia, Hivesville, Mondure and Cushnie areas.

Sadly, there have been at least three more serious storms through the region since then … on New Year’s Eve, in February and the recent October catastrophe at Coolabunia, Hodgleigh and Booie.

Previous Storm Recovery events were held at Kumbia and Mondure, which attracted strong turnouts of local residents.

Sunday’s event will be held at the Coolabunia State School from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

All landholders and community members who have been affected by the South Burnett storms have been invited to attend and enjoy a free barbecue lunch.

  • An RSVP for catering purposes would be appreciated to BIEDO on 0400-695-456 or by email
