South Burnett Regional Council has advised that a “fauna spotter” will be present during the upcoming clearing of native vegetation along sections of the Maidenwell–Bunya Mountains Road.

Roadtek will be working on a 750m section of the road, about 2.5km west of Maidenwell, and a one kilometre section about 12km from Maidenwell, with the aim of improving safety.

The works will involve removing vegetation to create a “clear zone” along the edges of the road.

Warning signs will also be installed on some curves.

The works are expected to be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.

They will generally be carried out between 6:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Speed restrictions and lane closures will be in place as required.

A Council spokesperson said clearing would be “limited as much as possible while complying with legislative and best practice requirements”.
