BIEDO CEO Kristy Frahm

October 31, 2018

BIEDO chief executive officer Kristy Frahm is one of three new faces to join Regional Development Australia’s Wide Bay Burnett committee (RDA WBB).

Ms Frahm (South Burnett / North Burnett), Ed Gibson (Hervey Bay) and Tanya O’Shea (Bundaberg) will be joining existing members Georgie Somerset (South Burnett) and Kerren Smith (Gympie) on the committee.

Retiring members are Gympie Mayor Mick Curran, Janelle Gerry (Bundaberg), Anne Maddern (Maryborough) and Stephanie Whittaker (Biggenden).

Chairman Bill Trevor and Deputy Chairman Daniel Poacher were re-appointed in April this year by the Federal Government.

Mr Trevor told southburnett.com.au although the Chairman and Deputy Chairman positions were selected by the government, the make-up of the committee was decided at the local level.

All positions are voluntary.

Mr Trevor said the committee positions had been advertised, and another one or two new members may still be appointed.

“We will make the decision over the next few months,” he said.

The aim was to appoint committee members from different parts of the Wide Bay Burnett region, so all areas could have representation.

The Wide Bay Burnett committee is part of a national network of RDA committees set up by the Federal Government.

They aim to work with all levels of government, business and community groups to support and encourage economic development opportunities within their regions.

Mr Trevor said the RDA WBB committee tried to meet in different parts of the region.

A meeting would be held in Kingaroy within the next 12 months.
